Is the procedure safe?

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure is done under local anesthesia and operated area is numbed with local anesthesia. so you will feel few injections pricks for the administration of local anesthesia. rest of the procedure is pain free. Most patients watch a movie, listen to music or take a nap while we work. Afterwards, they tell us that during the procedure they felt no pain. Any discomfort they feel afterwards is usually very temporary and nearly always minimal. Approximately 25% of patients elect to take pain relieving pills during the following 1-2 days.

Will this transplanted hair fall ? When do I see the best result?

In 3-6 weeks months time, some of the transplanted hair will fall off, DO NOT PANIC. The root is intact in spite of the hair fall. You will start seeing new hair coming from the transplanted area from 2-5 months.

When will my newly transplanted hair start to grow? When do i see the maximum growth?

Normally it takes between two to five months following surgery before the transplanted hair follicles begin to grow new hair. The transplanted hair grows in very thin initially and gradually grows thicker and fuller over time. the full result is visible by 9-12 months. after one year a patient’s transplanted hair will be fully mature and will continue to grow for a life time.

What is the recovery/healing time?

Most patients feel fine within a day or two following surgery, although some numbness and mild swelling can be expected for several days following surgery

Will I get scar on my head after the surgery?

Small tiny scar on the donor area, which is hardly visible.

Will this procedure mean time off from work?

No time off from work is required. But if you are sensitive about how you will look during the days immediately following, you can wear a hat, or, if that’s not possible in your work environment, we recommend you to get the transplant just before your holidays. Many patients return to work the next day. swelling sometimes can be bothersome from 3rd -5th day following hair transplant procedure.

Will people know I had a hair transplant?

Immediately patient’s recipient area is typically pink with scabs forming around the micro incisions, tiny incisions will heal rapidly within a week to ten days.
During the first few days after the surgery a person’s hair transplants will be noticeable.. However, most patients feel comfortable being in public without wearing a hat within 5 to 7 days following surgery.

What are the possible complications?

  • Itching: Some itching commonly occurs but is rarely troublesome and lasts only a few days
  • Swelling: There is some swelling in nearly all cases. It affects the forehead and the area around the eyes and lasts two to five days, being maximal on the fourth day.
  • Infection: As the procedure is performed under strict sterile condition, the infection rarely occurs.
  • Scarring
    Small tiny scar on the donor area, they are usually 0.5-0.6 in diameter and hardly noticeable and scaring around the grafted area is very uncommon.
  • Cysts [folliculitis]: One or more cysts may occur in the recipient area and donor site when graft are buried. They usually disappear by themselves after a few weeks or immediately with various simple treatments.
    f)Abnormal sensation and numbness-it is noticed in the first few weeks following the procedure. It can sometime extend up to 2 months.

How long does a hair transplant procedure take?

A typical session of between 2,500- 3,000 grafts normally involves a full day of surgery (6-7hrs) on an out patient basis. Most patients will arrive in the morning and will have their procedure completed by late afternoon.

What is the after care?

Need to spray saline on the transplanted area every half an hour for 48 hour.start head wash with baby shampoo on day 3rd of the procedure and continue for 1 month. application of olive oil on transplanted area from day 5th of the procedure (this will help to loosen scabs and scabs removal becomes easy).
