Eyelash Hair Transplant

Eyelash hair transplant, also known as eyelash implants, is a relatively new procedure that originally was used to treat areas of the eyelid that have no eyelashes due to genetics, alopecia, or trauma such as that from cancer surgery or burns.

Recently, however, Dr. Haldar has been using the procedure to thicken and enhance the appearance of the eyelashes, in individuals who already have eyelashes.

Transplant Technique:

  • Eyelash transplant can take about 1-3 hours depending upon the extent of hair loss.
  • Hair follicles are extracted keeping around 5-10mm length from the skin surface so that the curve of the follicle is well identified.
  • Follicular unit is dissected into single hair follicle.
  • Insertion of hair follicle into the eyelid is very challenging and requires high level surgical expertise and finesse. The angle and the curl of the eyelash has to be matched as much as possible.
  • May require more than one session to achieve a good density.
